Annual Notification: All career and technical education courses and programs are offered at Pierpont regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability.

Program Designations & Requirements

Pierpont is authorized to offer the following associate degree programs: Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A.), and Associate of Science (A.S.). Associate degrees are awarded upon successful completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours.

Additionally, Pierpont offers the Certificate of Applied Science (C.A.S.), which is granted upon successful completion of at least 30 semester credit hours.

Application for Graduation

Students nearing completion of their academic program must submit a graduation application by the designated deadline. The graduation application process is available online through the student portal (ROAR). Specific deadlines can be found on Pierpont’s official website or in the academic calendar.

Graduation Requirements

English Requirement 

All degree candidates must earn a grade of “C” or higher in all required English courses to qualify for graduation.

Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement

To graduate, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0, both institutional and cumulative, and fulfill all program-specific and institutional course requirements.

Institutional Residency Requirements

  • Associate Degree: Students must complete at least 15 credit hours at Pierpont, including at least 8 of the final 15 credit hours.
  • Certificate Program: A minimum of 8 credit hours must be earned at Pierpont.
  • Board of Governors (BOG) A.A.S. Degree: A minimum of 12 credit hours must be earned at Pierpont.  Please refer to the BOG academic program for these requirements.

“Honors” and “Highest Honors” Designation

Students graduating with an associate degree may be recognized with honors based on their overall GPA at the end of the semester prior to graduation:

  • Honors: GPA of 3.40 - 3.99
  • Highest Honors: GPA of 4.00

These designations will appear on graduation announcements and in the commencement program.

Diploma Mailing and Replacement Information

Diplomas are mailed after degrees are officially conferred.  While most postal deliveries are successful, Pierpont Community & Technical College cannot guarantee delivery once it is in the possession of the U.S. Postal Service.

If a diploma is lost, delayed, misdirected, or damaged, graduates may request a replacement.  Replacement diplomas may incur a fee of $25.
