This practicum provides hands-on clinical experience designed to build upon the theoretical knowledge acquired in the medical-surgical nursing course. They will also learn to manage critical aspects of patient care, including bowel and digestive health, kidney function, fluid balance, and elimination, as well as providing safe, effective postoperative care. Students will develop essential clinical skills in patient assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making, while working collaboratively with healthcare teams to promote patient comfort and optimal outcomes. This hands-on experience will prepare students to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for patients in a variety of medical and surgical settings, enhancing their ability to navigate complex healthcare environments and ensuring they are equipped for their future roles as Licensed Practical Nurses. Successful completion of all laboratory, theoretical, and clinical components are required to receive credit for this course.
