Program Purpose
The C.A.S. Bookkeeping will offer students the opportunity to gain entry-level accounting skills in 1 year. All courses scaffold into the A.A.S. in Business, Accounting concentration as well for those interested in continuing on to the A.A.S.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Bookkeeping, C.A.S., students will be able to:
- Prepare, record, and analyze financial statements and other reporting documents according to generally accepted accounting principles
- Analyze financial data
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing accounting software programs
- Demonstrate effective communication and computational skills
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of business procedures
Opportunities
Graduates of the C.A.S. will qualify for entry-level acccounting posititions like bookkeeping clerks, accounting clerks, and auditing clerks.

Required Courses (30 Hrs)
Notice to All Students
- Annual Notification: All career and technical education courses and programs are offered at Pierpont regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability.
- Advanced Skill Set and Skill Set programs do not qualify for financial aid. Students seeking financial aid eligible degrees may incorporate the classes as electives when their schedule allows or may declare an associate or certificate degree in which the skill set and advanced skill set courses are embedded.
