Program Purpose
This Skill Set enables students to set up control functions for manufacturing and process industries using programmable logic controllers.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain how to start the applicable PLC logics software
- Characterize various PLC hardware components
- Develop a basic PLC program using the applicable software interface
- Develop PLC ladder programs that use timer and counter instructions
- Explain how to start the applicable PLC logics software

- Develop PLC programs that use shift register instructions
Opportunities
Skills that enable students to function in a power generation station, midstream processing plant, or in a manufacturing facility as an operator, maintenance technician, or instrumentation and controls technician are skills that are in-demand.
