Program Purpose
This Skill Set provides hands skills needed for operation of a 450 MW power plant using a plant referenced simulator.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Using a plant simulation, start, sync to grid, and shutdown a pulverized coal or gas boiler or similar operating unit
- Using a plant simulation, and given plant off normal or emergency conditions, troubleshoot the condition and take actions to return the plant to normal operating conditions
- Using a mid-stream oil and gas simulator start and run glycol dehydration unit, tank farm and amine treating units
Opportunities
Skills that enable students to function in a power generation station or midstream processing plant as an operator are skills that are in-demand.
