Continuing Education is lifelong learning beyond a degree or certificate program that ensures professionals have the latest knowledge in their fields.
Continuing Education programs are occupation based and offer skills that today’s workforce need to be effective and marketable. High-demand occupations in healthcare, energy, and information technology as well as entrepreneurs are currently experiencing growth and need qualified workers. These programs are a fast-track option, open to anyone wishing to start a career or advance in their current profession.
Pierpont Community & Technical College has partnered with World Ed to provide short-term online training and personal enrichment courses. A full complement of high-quality online courses are offered in multiple career categories. Most are self-paced, although some provide a virtual learning experience led by a qualified instructor in a cohort setting. Many prepare students to attain a national or industry-recognized credential through assessment testing or certification exams.
Workforce training programs are designed to introduce new skills or improve worker’s abilities to enable long term success for both employees and their employers. Expert instructors, typically with related field experience, deliver specific skill or skill set training; focusing on the knowledge and competencies needed to enter the workforce or respond to ongoing changes in the industry. Training can be provided in flexible formats including instructor led in-person, virtually, or a hybrid combination. Many workforce training programs result in valuable industry or nationally recognized credentials. Although most training is non-credit, all programs can be transferred to an academic degree program, allowing workers to continue to advance in their careers.
Workforce training is a proven solution to attract talent, improve retention and strengthen talent pipelines. Programs can be customized to address a company’s specific need or based on the industry standards. With location flexibility, training may be offered at the company site, the college campus or wherever is the most effective. Many workforce training programs result in valuable recognized credentials.
