MBC 2213 - Outpatient Procedural Medical Coding5 hr(s). This course is designed to emphasize the history and development of the current coding classification systems. In this course, the students will learn how to code for the outpatient procedures. The coding system covers physicians’ office visits, hospital outpatient and ambulatory care settings. Application of the current coding classification systems will be taught. Prepared software will be used to enhance the understanding of the current classification system. Financial implications of the current classification system will be discussed. Prerequisite(s): HLCA 1100 , BIOY 1170 , BIOY 1171 , and MBC 1100 (or HLIN 1100 ) with a “C” or better Restriction(s): Medical Billing and Coding majors only
