This course provides a historical comparative approach to the changing structure and functions of the family institution. The effect of economic, demographic, and cultural changes on relationships, gender roles, marriage, and childcare will be examined as well as variations by socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.
