Applied Process Technology Program Coordinator

Program Purpose

This Skill Set enables students to set up control functions for manufacturing and process industries using programmable logic controllers.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Explain how to start the applicable PLC logics software
  • Characterize various PLC hardware components
  • Develop a basic PLC program using the applicable software interface
  • Develop PLC ladder programs that use timer and counter instructions
  • Explain how to start the applicable PLC logics software

  • Develop PLC programs that use shift register instructions

Opportunities

Skills that enable students to function in a power generation station, midstream processing plant, or in a manufacturing facility as an operator, maintenance technician, or instrumentation and controls technician are skills that are in-demand.
